About Roo Mansala Boutique Villas

Roo Mansala Boutique Villas, or “alluring abode” in English, is located in Sigiriya, the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. With mesmerising views of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress (dubbed the eighth wonder of the world) and the Pidurangala Rock, Roo Mansala offers peaceful seclusion of the lush, fertile plains where ancient kings dwelt, duelled, and sought refuge. The unique architecture of the hotel, reminiscent of the ancient architecture of the Rock Fortress, blends the marvels of Sigiriya, with modern boutique living. Roo Mansala is a refuge to all seasonal travellers offering a unique, personalised, hospitality experience in an eco-friendly setting.

We, at Roo Mansala, take immense pride in our 2500-year- old recorded history and illustrious heritage. Located adjacent to the 8th wonder of the world, we are deeply conscious of the legacy, culture, and ancestry that has been passed from generation to generation handed down from our ancestors. Roo Mansala is a homage to ancient architecture of Sri Lanka. We have incorporated the architectural traditions of Sigiriya to provide our visitors with an immersive experience of culture, heritage, and personalised hospitality in an tropical setting.

A gem hotel concept in Sigirya! You won’t regret your stay. Lovely huts villa style in the middle of nature surrounded by villages. The staff are well trained, kind and professional. We could tell they are well trained for 5* service. Its very quite and perfect gateaway for meditation, relaxation etc. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only cons I have is it would have been awsome if the pool was a bit far from the restaurant terrace and lobby but I guess it is there for safety reasons. The bed is too soft but that’s a tiny detail compared to the experience and concept of this property. Totally worth the price and is actually ethically priced. The Dinner & breakfast is very tasty and prepared as ordered to avoid waste. kudos to the chef and the waiter who was extremely polite and professional (apologies I can’t remember his name). It is also ethically priced. Again 100% recommend and we’d want to stay couple nights more.

Wonderful location with superb views Lion Rock and Pidu rock from the upstairs room. The resort has a nice pool to cool off in and food and service was great. They have a viewing platform that for afternoon relaxing was very scenic. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Roo Mansala. All the staff were very polite and courteous. The food was some of the best of our entire trip, especially the Sri Lankan curry was delicious. The pool is sufficiently large, but does not offer a breathtaking view. But you have a great view of the rocks in the immediate vicinity from the rooms. We can highly recommend staying here in Sigiriya.

Boutique hotel with a view on the lion rock. The villas are very nice and spacious and the personell is super friendly. Also food was good. The internet setup was a bit cumbersome as there are several hotspots you need to login, all with separate passwords. And we only figured out after checkout that we could have had internet in the dining area.

Roo Mansala was by far the best place we stayed at during our trip to Sri Lanka! The entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. The views were absolutely breathtaking, with nature all around, making it feel like a true getaway. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and designed with such attention to detail that comfort was guaranteed. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, which was perfect for staying connected. But what truly set Roo Mansala apart was the incredible service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was flawless—they were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The hospitality was unmatched. The price-quality ratio was excellent, as every aspect of the stay exceeded our expectations. If you’re looking for the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and Sri Lankan charm, Roo Mansala is the place to be! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

We loved our stay at Roo Mansala. It was located walking distance to both Lion Rock & Pidurangala (but you shouldn’t walk it at sunset or sunrise due to the wild elephants). Huge rooms with little patios, a great viewing deck and lovely pool area to cool off after a day exploring. The service was superb and the restaurant delicious and great value. Highly recommend!
One of the best hotel we have been to in Sri Lanka and worldwide. The food is amazing and everything is fresh and homemade. The service is very professional, quick and discreet. The rooms are spotless, comfortable with an amazing view on the Sigirya lion rock.

You have to stay here, the best stay I ever had truly! The staff is so kind, the rooms are stunning, the views here are amazing, the pool is lovely and refreshing and the location is great! And not too forget, the food here is AMAZING!If you are coming to Sigiraya you should definitely book your stay here, wish I could stay longer!
We are a family of 4 and had a wonderful stay at Roo Mansala in July. The service was excellent, the rooms very clean and the location was superb. Quick and easy to get to all the things we wanted to do including the elephant safari and super close to Lion’s rock. And there was a bonus elephant to watch in the fields behind the hotel! The pool was delightful and the tree top seating area was a quiet place to read and watch out for more wildlife.

Wow! When do you ever stay somewhere nowadays that truly surpasses your expectations? When we were researching for our holiday, the location and pictures of Roo Mansala (translate- ‘beautiful place to stay’) were great (so big tick) but the YouTube feature was a pretty basic set of stills. So we were happy but with some ‘question marks’.The reality with your own eyes is spectacular - Amazing service, fantastic breakfast and dinner menus with choices of Western or Sri Lankan dishes and beautiful, tasteful rooms with clever use of trees and plants to ensure privacy. The new development of the 1st floor rooms (opening in next week or so) that in due course will look out over jungle that may give opportunity for elephants to be incredibly close will be really exciting. Whilst we were there a herd of elephants were around the jungle/field between the Hotel and Pidurangala and as we drove away we saw a bull elephant in a field 400m from the property! The two owners Chammika and Asanka left Accountancy for Hotel ownership - boy did they make the right choice. Just a lovely mindset - beautiful service, super friendly and a real thirst for developing further/receiving feedback. We don’t usually go to the same place twice, ever, but the thought of spending 3 days there sometime is pretty attractive…who knows 🙏🏼❤️

Wow, we really enjoyed our stay at Roo Mansala Boutique Villa. An oasis of peace, the most helpful staff, beautiful accommodation. We slept like a baby, wonderful beds! The pool area was also great and very relaxing. Very friendly staff. We highly recommend dining in the restaurant as well. We combined our stay with a visit to Minneriya National Park, sunrise hike to Pidurangala, Kumara's Farm to table Cooking Experience (recommended!). The location is also ideal for this.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend Roo Mansala 100%!

4 of us booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. As we wanted to hike Sirigiya, we decided to stay nearby. There’s only a handful of properties available nearby, but I stumbled across this gem. Cautious at first since there are only a few reviews online, I made my booking and contacted the property for more details. The property was very helpful to provide the information I required. Note that the property only has 6 rooms (for now), so we were not able to book the same room type. The difference of the room were the ceiling heights and the view, the view when booking the second floor (second room type) is amazing, you get to see the view of Sirigiya from your balcony! Amazing hospitality, the Roo Mansala team took care of us very well, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food options were great, so we had dinner at the property for both nights, bonus points for having a very nice romantic ambiance. Definitely a very nice and cosy Bali Villa vibe with just 3 bungalows (6 rooms), pool and 1 restaurant. It’s slightly on the pricey price point, but it was definitely worth it!A few tips:- The location of the property is a little difficult to find. So please be sure to contact the property beforehand for directions!- As the location is quite secluded, do plan your meals in advance! That said, the property does serve a good selection of food!
We had a really wonderful time at this hotel; the location is just perfect if you're wanting to explore Sigiriya Rock. The hotel staff were also very friendly and accommodating with all of our requests. The food was lovely, especially the local Sri Lankan curry. The cocktails were on the pricey side compared to all of the other hotels we stayed at during our month in Sri Lanka; nevertheless, the food was delightful. The rooms were very pretty and followed a similar design to those we've seen throughout our stay in Sri Lanka.

I recommend this hotel 100%. Both the location, the facilities and the staff have been a 10. The rooms are spacious, very clean and well equipped. The bathrooms are comfortable and the showers have very good pressure. The restaurant and breakfast were very good and the staff was very attentive and charming to solve anything for you, always very attentive to you. Perfect location next to Lion Rock.

We have felt very comfortable here. It was one of the best hotels of our trip. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the entire facility is very well maintained and clean. The highlight here is the breathtaking view of the two rocks and the atmosphere of the jungle. You can hear and see a lot of animals, otherwise the hotel is very quiet.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Roo Mansala at the start of our tour. The facility is very well maintained and very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful! The food was great every day, regardless of whether it was national dishes such as curries or pasta (which is a must for us for a change). The rooms are also very nice and spacious, but unfortunately they are very noisy. The sights are within walking distance. We would definitely recommend the hotel!

My wife booked this hotel as part of our trip to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was our first hotel in Sri Lanka and it set a high bar. At the time of writing they only have six rooms (I know they plan for 8 soon but the unexpected rains have slowed that project down) but what rooms they were. Really beautiful rooms, a really great space to be in with huge bathrooms. We were on the first floor (second floor for any Americans out there) and the view of Lion Rock and Sigiriya was extraordinary, when we could see it (unfortunately it was heavy rain when we were there). If it wasn't for the rain we would have spent a lot more time on the balcony enjoying that view each evening. The service was second to none at all times. So welcoming and friendly, the owner clearly wants to make his guests feel very much at home. As it was the first time we'd been in Sri Lanka we weren't sure what to expect food wise but the food was delicious, both breakfast and the dinner. Although you have to order the Sri Lankan breakfast the night before, because it takes time to prepare, I really recommend trying it here because it was the best we'd had in Sri Lanka (and there was some tough competition).Other than being down quite a long road, which takes time to get to, the hotel is located really well for all the sights in the area. The pool is a decent size, considering there's only six rooms, and the pool area is lovely, it's just a shame the rain stopped us from using it.Our second and final night at the hotel was my 50th and the staff made a lovely cake and made me feel really special.Roo Mansala thanks for our lovely stay. If we come back to the Sigiriya area, which we may do in 2025, I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

The poolside restaurant is wonderful. The food is delicious and the curry is not too spicy so anyone can enjoy it. Asadokoro regrets that he should have made curry with milk rice. The accommodation was full of nature with squirrels running around. The surrounding scenery was amazing, it was quiet and relaxing! My LG air conditioner broke.

We booked Roo Mansala 8 months in advance for a 2 night stay in Jan 2024.BE WARNED - The hotel is in the process building additional cabanas. They chose not to inform us that this was adjacent to our balcony!IMO THIS IS DECEITFULWe made our feelings clear to the Hotel Manager and the owner and they completely lacked empathy. We were greeted by sweet guy in overalls and the sound of drilling, hammering and lots of workmen walking past our balcony!!!We travelled a long way and were so disappointed not to be informed in advance. We paid a top rate (mainly based on the view of the rock) and find it disgusting that they lacked the common decent to inform us if we turn to our left this is what we would see. (Pic will be uploaded)We were seduced by the location and images. We lost valuable holiday time because of the lack of honesty and decency the Manager and owner treated us with.In the interests of fairness we were completely refunded and a £5 tuk tuk was paid for to take us to our next destination. THANKS 🙏🏽

Spent a night at this hotel. Located in a very calm and quiet place. Room quality was average and was comfy. The meals were served on a menu and it was amazing nothing to complain. The buffet service was not available as there were only few guests. Staff is friendly and supportive. This place has a very closer and a beautiful view of the Sigiriya rock. Loved it. Highly recommended.

Roo Mansala is a tranquil haven and I'm looking forward to going back there on a future trip to Sri Lanka. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Our meals were excellent and everyone who works there made us feel welcome and cared for.The location is excellent. We walked from the inn to Sigiriya for our climb and were able to see more of the countryside. Later in the day we toured Kaudulla National Park. Because of recent storms nearby, we arrived after dark and the final roads were a bit tricky in the dark, but the drive was absolutely worth it.We only spent 2 nights there and I wish we could have stayed longer to fully relax and enjoy the pool and environment. We took our meals onsite and were glad we did. We had lots of questions about ingredients and dishes that were new to us and our curiosity was rewarded with recommendations and explanations. Don't miss the Sri Lankan breakfast (I had the fish curry version both mornings). Before we left, the manager, Asanka, gave us a tour of the grounds and pointed out the plants that are grown to supply the kitchen. It's a compact place but it makes great use of its environment. Can't wait to return!

Actually road was not good. We tried ro call them many time but didnot aanswered the phone. Dont follow google map to go to this hotel. Very difficult to go on the road and also they dont provide driver accomodations. So drivers should go back to city and find accomodation. All Srilanka drivers not recommended this hotels.

It was one of my favorites hotels in Sri Lanka. The client services are excellend, hospitality is beyong exellency, the rooms are very spacious & cozy, food is excellent with a private chef who is always there to ask if everything is nice and good.It was not a thing that I can say in a negative way of this accomodation. We have arried at 5 AM at the hotel due to weird flights, but the people were so nice they were up and very friendly showing us the room and helping with luggage. You cannot find a better hotel in this area and trust me, they are 5000% worth it.

Roo Mansala has been the perfect place to stay on Sigirya. The rooms are beautiful and very big, the swimming pool is very nice. We ate a lot of local food but the waiter was very careful in notifying if any meal was not appropriate for us: we did not like things too spicy and therefore they were really kind in helping us eating the best food. The place is magic: in the middle of the forest you will enjoy silence and peace with a perfect view of the Lion Stone! It's a must have!!

Do not go there.I want to stay on this Hotel. We contacted them over the phone to make a reservation. We haven’t been there and since it’s new hotel we wanted to visit the place first decide which room/villas to select like other hotel services.Receptionist/ manager who answered the phone was so arrogant for locals ( Sri Lankan customers ). He was saying they don’t preferred locals only providing accomodation to foreigners but there wasn’t any booking scheduled on that day.So desperate to charge deposits before showing the rooms. Zero customer service skills. Poor hotel service. Low staff. This place is about to shut down soon due the receptionist/ manager. They said it’s a 4 star resort, but according other hotels it is 2-3 star resort. There are so many options for accomodation in Sigiriya with better staff/ customer service, better location and reasonable rates. Don’t even think to visit this hotel.

Honestly couldn’t have chosen a better hotel to begin our Sri Lankan adventure. Chammika and the rest of the hard working staff made the whole experience even better. Transfer from the airport was easily arranged over messages prior to our arrival. Breakfast is not to be missed, make sure you opt for Sri Lankan, this ended up being the best breakfast we had the whole trip. The rooms Are stunning, with views to both lion rock and pidurangala. The location of the hotel is that good you can walk to both of these main attractions. We loved returning to the hotel after a sunrise hike to breakfast and a morning dip in the pool. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Roo Mansala was our first stay in Sri Lanka and it was almost a curse. The reason for this is because it was by far the best. Our room was perfect, loads of space and a hugely comfy bed. There is a balcony where you get a lovely view over to Lion Rock. Because there are only six rooms I can hardly imagine it would ever feel anything other than quiet and tranquil. We ate dinner there on our first day which was excellent and this only continued to get better with breakfast the following morning. A stunning introduction to Sri Lankan breakfasts and something we haven’t had better since. It’s a short walk from everywhere you need, the walk to Lion Rock is particularly pleasant, we saw plenty of wildlife enroute.Lastly all of the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly throughout.I cannot recommend this place enough!

Lovely small boutique hotel, which has been very well maintained. The room was very spacious and clean, with a beautiful view on both Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rock. Both are in walking distance, which makes this a perfect place to stay. The food was very delicious and tasty, both breakfast and dinner. The service has been outstanding, and stood out from the other places we visited in Sri Lanka. From the beginning we felt very welcome and looked after. You can tell the people who are running this place, really want to offer you a great stay. Definitely recommended if you are planning on visiting Sigiriya on your trip.
